Today's Tip: It 'healthy fruit?
The fruits are healthy and important for your diet. A variety of fruit is good for you, because they help combat and reduce the risk of disease.
Benefits of fruit:
Rich in vitamins and minerals, are natural sources, they give you energy, high fiber, low in calories, fat and sodium, and are fun to eat.
You can eat fresh, frozen, canned or dried fruit, but not the juice unless it is 100% fruit juice. The best thing to do is keep out fruit and easily accessible to you, fruit packaging baggies so you can grab on the way out the door and be sure to add to each meal.
We keep our bananas in the refrigerator so it does not go brown and last much longer. I immediately wash the grapes and put them in an open container in the fridge so we can take a bit 'at a time and the rest of the fruits go to the fridge fruit bin. I love my apple corer and once you use this, it is much easier to eat the apple rather than biting into a whole apple.
The number of servings of fruits varies depending on the food pyramid. Be sure to check out the fruits healthy tip section on the website MyPyramid.gov too. Many of their tips made of things that I already like adding fruit to my cereal. I especially like bananas or blueberries in my oatmeal. Yum! And with my new challenge, dessert, fruit works well especially for dessert dipped in addition to or in some impressive Chobani greek yogurt.
